When the moon is in Gemini, you can find me noticing the patterns. Looking for signs and trying to understand their meaning is the realm of the Knight of Swords. Treating the pursuit of knowledge like it is the quest to find a lover feels very Gemini to me.
For the Gemini moon, I choose Knight of Swords as our anchor card. The Knight of Swords in the Moon Void Tarot 4th edition depicts a crow sitting upon a sword - while the sword is extended to the right, the crow’s head faces left. Not only does this invoke the duality of Gemini, but it is an excellent representation of what it means to have your eyes open to the unknown.
When I pull this card or work with the knight of swords as an anchor card, I am reminded that information comes in many different forms and that I may need to work on opening myself up to receiving. Sometimes, this knight comes with new information in a way we may not have expected it. For example, if we’re working on getting a promotion, perhaps instead of hearing the news directly from our manager, we actually see several signs indicating the outcome before it even happens.
Gemini, ruled by Mercury, is one of our key signs (along with Virgo) when receiving messages.
There are a few ways that folks will ask for a sign or message. Often, when working to manifest something, we might ask to be shown a specific image in order to confirm that we are on the right path. This could be as simple as 3:33 on the microwave or as complex as 3 blue butterflies. When working in this way, I do encourage specificity. So instead of just saying “If I’m on the right path, please show me a sign” we would say “If I’m on the right path, please show me a snowy owl this week.” Including a timeline can be very helpful so that you arent waiting indefinitely.
Additionally, folks will work with deities or spirits of their ancestors when looking for a sign or message. This can often involve talking directly to them and asking the same question, “Am I on the right path?” or connecting with them via a divinatory method like tarot or oracle cards.
There are also often instances where we are consistently shown signs that we didn’t ask for - the main way this happens for me is through my dreams. When I dream about something, I often reflect on the images or symbols or words that came up in the dream. This is another place where using a tarot deck could support interpreting such signs. Often, I will ask my cards these types of questions:
-
What was the significance of this dream?
-
Is there an action to take based on what I saw/heard in this dream?
-
What was the meaning of [insert specific symbol/image/word] in my dream?
I also want to note that this magical practice goes both ways, while we can see all of the magic and manifestation coming our way, we can also notice our own personal patterns. What habbits or cycles do you find yourself stuck in? It could be anything from self-critical thoughts, imbalanced relationships, or even cleaning patterns!
However, noticing these things and shaming yourself for them couldn't be any different. Like this air sign, Gemini can help us take a step back and observe. What if a dear friend or family member was telling you about these negative patterns they're experiencing? Gemini is often regarded as the mirror, how can you reflect on what you're noticing without going down the rabbit hole? For me, just sharing with someone helps me formulate a plan of action and builds accountability. After all, Gemini does rule our communication!
Finally, where do you have Gemini in your chart? When the moon is in Gemini, you may find yourself speaking about that particular area of your life, receiving messages about that area, or just having a clearer understanding of what that area means for you in this stage of your life.
For example, Gemini rules my 4th and 5th houses - during this time, I can often communicate well about my home space or creative practices! I couldn’t help but smile to myself as I write this blog post that is very grounded in my personal, creative practice!
